5-string Banjo: Manx Medley

My old banjo has reached its final days and has had to be replaced, so here is my first effort on the new one. Not having played banjo for nearly a year, I am somewhat rusty, not that I was any good anyway, so there are a few (ha ha) mistakes, but after more than 60 attempts, this will have to suffice. The tunes are three Manx dance tunes the names of which are: Car Ny Ferrishyn (The Fairies' Dance); Chyndaa Yn Bwoailley (The Courting Dance); Eunyssagh Vona (Vona's Delight).

60 attempts? Wow, that’s dedication! It’s come out nice. That first tune I know as “The Fairy Dance”, although I was under the impression it was Scottish rather than Manx.

@davedupplaw Thanks Dave. That is indeed the name of that number, but there is some dispute as to its origin in common with other Gaelic tunes.

I think it’s generally agreed that Fairy Dance – Car ny Ferrishyn in Manx – is Scottish in origin. There’s a few Manx tunes that are variations of tunes originating elsewhere. One that springs to mind is Moylley Gys Jee My Chaarjyn and Star of the County Down.

@CONEYMAN123 Thanks for the input Pete. You are undoubtedly correct for as you are aware, we have been influenced by many cultures here in the island.
